The River Thames twists and turns through the city of London, offering the best sights and experiences the city has to offer. Whether it’s an outdoor cinema, Michelin star meal, a history lesson or just trying to commute during another strike, it has it all.

Uber Boat

The city’s resident river boat service, covers all the basics and gets you from A to B. The Uber Boat is a great way to travel, if you don’t feel like standing with your face in some ones armpit on a busy tube. It is not necessarily the fastest way to travel the city, but is my go to during a rail strike. Brownie points go to the onboard coffee shop that add to a nice, relaxing commute through the city. The boats arrive roughly every 30 minutes and just like the tube you can tap in and tap out with your contactless card.

London Eye River Cruise

This one is close to my heart, and my top pick for a sightseeing cruise as when first arriving in London, I hosted the commentary’s onboard for a while, a job I still miss to this day. Embarkation is from the London Eye pier and the Cruise takes you on a round trip to Tower Bridge and back again, with both commentary’s and an onboard coffee shop.

My tip if taking the cruise is to investigate the Merlin package deals, you can purchase multiple attractions (Up to 5) and will have 90 days to use the tickets at your leisure. This can over half the price of a ticket to the London Eye or Madam Tussauds.

RIB Speedboat

This one is on my London bucket list; I have heard so many people rave about how exciting the experience is. Speeding down the River Thames past some of the city’s most iconic locations and blaring out the James Bond Theme tune, the perfect recipe to make anyone feel like the ultimate spy (not sure I would risk dressing like one for this trip though).

The RIB speedboats offer a variety of experiences and routes, some of which stretching all the way down to the Thames Barrier and back again.

City Cruises

If you are looking to one up the standard river cruise experience, City Cruises has everything needed. You many fancy an Afternoon Tea, Murder Mystery, Dinner Cruises and my favourite a Jazz Cruise. The City Cruises Jazz Cruises includes a three-course meal, a drink on arrival and an evening of live jazz and swing classics. Just what we need now we are back in the roaring twenties
